Well, my reaction is based on their illegal status. I don't give a crap what race they are.

Are Mexicans "racist" against the Salvadorenos and Guatemalans they try to keep out of their country?

It's fear for the effect they will cause, but it has little to do with racism. It produces stupid, racist, stereotypical comments, but it's not really based on racism. People hate anyone who we feel threatened by, so we make fun of what they have in common, eg being Latino. If the UK had the same amount of people flocking across the Atlantic, Americans would have the same reaction. If it was only left-handed people, tall people, or people with an extra toe, we'd make fun of them for that, too.

There's no racism in the reaction. The racism, really, is with the Mexican response and the democrats and liberals who play the race card with them.

Americans have every right to say "get the hell out of our country" and there's nothing racist about it. Immigrants coming across our deserts are trespassing on private property and bypassing our embassies to do it.

Calling it something that it's not is just childish. Play the race card exposes your own racist tendancies.

Lets get one thing straight from the start. These are NOT immigrants. These are infiltrators, invaders. We had infiltrators in Viet Nam. Infiltrators will go through barbed wire, fences, over and under walls, to get to and destroy their objective and wreak as much havoc on the economic, social, and political system they are headed for. These are infiltrators, determined to destroy the very system that is supporting them, determined to bring this system to the same third world status as the one they came from.
So do not be misled by the left-wing media's deceptive use of the word "immigrant". It is a lie used to make the illegal invasion of this country seem like "poor mexicans, only doing jobs Americans won't do".

Illegal immigration has nothing to do with race. But you always hear "Americans are racist", because they are against illegal immigration.
La Raza probably encouraged them to pull out the race card, after all they are equally as racist as the KKK.
If your not brown they don't want you around!

I don't know that it's a racist reaction towards Mexicans (I assume that's who you're referring to) as much as it is a reaction to the fact that they're in the country illegally reaping the benefits such as higher wages, free medical care, public education, welfare, etc. w/out any of the cons such as paying for the resources they receive and being taxed like the rest of us. Many people have no problem w? Mexicans as log as they're following the process and taking the necessary steps to be in the country legally like many other immigrants.

There is a racist reaction to all immigrants!

If people are racist, they don't have the reasoning to tell the difference between legal and illegal immigrants, nor do they care, they just want to spew their racist remarks all over the place!

HTH : )

Wow!!! You are right about Chloe!!!
I think that a lot of the racist reaction is driven by the media and the opposers of "legalizing" all of the illegal immigrants (of every race) who are here.
I do not think it is a matter of racism myself...but I do believe that some people are bred with ignorance. We live in a country where...we like to pretend that everything is fine...when the reality of it is ...the general population refuses to think for themselves!!! So many people tend to rely on news reporters and other forms of media for their opinions!!

Stating facts about the most serious issue in America today is not being racist. That card has been overplayed.

There should not be a racial component to this debate, but when one side is wrong and they no they are wrong, they backslide to name calling and saying that the debate is race based. Its pathetic.

I don't understand when wanting people to obey our laws, pay their way, and integrate into our society with open arms, how that could be racist. people suck.
