does anyone know how to make black frosting for a cake?

If you truly need a black frosting, then I would locate a bakery supply store in your area and find out if they have a food coloring paste in black. Traditional colors won't quite do it. You'll end up with a murkey greenish brown mix as a general rule.

Use white frosting and tint it black with black paste food coloring (found in the crafts section). I believe Walmart carries it, if you have one near you.

You have to use a special black paste, can get at some craft stores with the cake decorating stuff.

Add food coloring to white or chocolate frosting try blue and green. Experimet w/ it until you get it right.

There is a brand of food color called Americolor. They make black food coloring and it doesn't take a lot to get the icing black.
