The word "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for Almighty God, and is the same word used by Arabic speaking Christians and Jews. If one were to pick up an Arabic translation of the Bible, one would see the word "Allah" being use where the word "God" is used in English. Actually, the Arabic word for Almighty God, "Allah", is quite similiar to the word for God in other Semitic languages — for example, the Hebrew word for God is "Elah". For various reasons, some non-Muslims mistakenly believe that Muslims worship a different God than Jews and Christians. This is certainly not the case, since the Pure Monotheism of Islam calls all people to the worship of the God of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and all of the other prophets. However, even though Jews, Christians and Muslims worship the same God — since there is only one God — their concepts concerning Him differ in some significant ways.

Muslims believe in GOD(in arabic Allah), the Supreme and Eternal, Infinite and Mighty, Merciful and Compassionate, The Creator and The Provider, He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none equal or comparable unto Him.

Islam is the only religion which recognizes and believes that all the prophets brought the same essential message This message was, still and will be the belief in and submission to ONE God (the Creator and the Sustainer of all things, the Exalted and the Redeemer of all things. The word Islam itself means "submission and surrendering" to God

God is simply a title (not a name) given to Him because He is supreme. God is an english translation of El in Hebrew, Allah in Arabic, Theos in Greek, etc. It is moreso what He represents and His relation to us. There are other things He could be called like a Diety, Supreme Being, the Almighty, Father in Heaven, Father of Creation, etc. All of these titles go hand in hand with God because the term signifies what He is in relation to us.

It was actually a very smart move on the part of the church's founders. When its spelled "god" (little g) it means a supreme being, and it is generic. By taking this word and capitilizing the g...God, they found a way to make it specific, and at the same time, indicate that he is the "one and only".

I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll try to answer it in the spirit it was given.

the word " God " is a title, not a name. It's like saying manager, or captain. A man who spends his whole life making money, the almighty Dollar would be his God. a person who gets a job just so he can play his favorite MMORPG, well, that would be his God. See where I'm going?....

So, when Jehovah said " I am your one true God " what He was saying is, " Dedicate your life to me, follow my laws "

I'm hoping that was the answer you were looking for. Best Wishes. :D

I think the question is asking for the origins of the word GOD, like the history of the word itself, the etymology of the word God. No idea, I guess S/He made up the word to make it easier for everyone to pronounce. LOL!

God is simply a title, just as prince or king are titles. god has a name and He reveals it to us 7000+ times in the scriptures. ps 83:18"That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah,
You alone are the Most High over all the earth." in the lords prayer one of the first things jesus says is "hallowed be thy name"- what name? Jehovah.

I would guess it is a derivative of anglo-saxon for good or god, as a generic title or name for the idea of a supreme being or supreme good.God and good have always been connected. You shoudl do a etymological study .Lok it up in the unabridged Oxford dictionary of the English language for its history.

If you're speaking of the God of the Bible..... the Bible specifically instructs people to call God by His Name.

This is used thousands of times in the original language of the Bible - and it is YHWH.

It is translated into English as JEHOVAH.

why is a chicken called a chicken? It's just a word that is used as a signifier. the 3 letters "G" "O" "D" are combined in such a way that it signifies the concept of a super being.
