Rossi is the cheaper brand of Taurus. They used to be seperate companies, but Taurus bought them out in the 90s. The easiest way to identify your pistol defiantely is to go to the Taurus website and contact them. Send them the information you provided for us, and they should be able to tell you. They aren't very valuable, their fit and finish isn't generally all that great, but they are robust little pistols, designed similarliy to the S&W. Hope this helps.

It pretty much is a Rossi clone of the Smith and Wesson J-frame revolver. It is also manufactured by Taurus, under license. Rossi still makes a .38 Special revolver just like it today (except with rubber grips, and it can handle +P ammunition,) with an MSRP of $325.50.

As such it's value, at least according to a brief search of GunsAmerica would be somewhere between $180 and $300.

Probably a copy of the "J" frame S&W. Maybe even a 'clone.' Didn't S&W manufacture their revolvers in Brazil at one time? Rossi probably bought them out and simply continued using the same manufacturing equipment under the Rossi name.
