As mentioned, it depends on which helicopter model is in question.

Most helicopter's cabins are not pressurized, therefore the service ceiling would be 10,000-12,000 ft. Heights above this would lack too little oxygen for the pilots - not the aircraft. A pressurized cabin would allow helicopters (and pilots) to fly higher. HH-43B Huskie Helicopter service ceiling is 25,000 feet. There may be models out there that can go even higher.

I dont know the answer but the responses to date dont answer the question either. I think what the person wants to know is "how high can a helicopter theoretically fly?" Obviously, it cant fly to 50 kilometres, the air is too thin to provide the support. But a helicopter can fly to 100 metres easily. There must be a point at which the atmospheric density decreases to a level where it cannot support an aircraft which relies on differences in air pressure above and below the rotor blades.

An average helicopter can operate between 14,000 ft to 20,000 ft in altitude, depending on its weight. However, some rescue models can go up as high as 24,000 ft. as one of the Eurocopters did in a 2005 rescue on Mount Everest.
