I thought if I write these down somewhere, knowing that someone would read it, would help reduce the pressure of my feelings
I stopped going to therapy about 5 months ago.
I felt like it isn't doing any good other than making me feel lousier about myself and also since I didn't want to end up in a mental hospital I was afraid to tell my psychologist that I'm thinking about suicide.
So I canceled my weekly appointments and threw out my meds.
I fought off the thoughts by making myself busy all day long.
But its been about a week or two that I'm feeling down and can't function much.
and the rest I don't know
I have an exam tomorrow evening and can't concentrate
wish me luck

I used to work as a psych RN for many years and I have personal experience with deep depression and suicidal thinking.
I'm sorry that seeing a counselor didn't seem to help but you shouldn't of stopped taking your medications. It's possible that the reason that your counseling wasn't seeming to help is that you are too depressed and need either an increase in the dose of your medication or a trial on a different antidepressant.
Being afraid to tell your psychologist about thoughts of suicide is common but you need not be afraid. No one will force you into a mental hospital just because you're having thoughts of suicide. In Minnesota where I live and used to work as a psych RN, your insurance company would never have paid for your stay in the hospital, just because you're having suicidal thoughts.
I hope that it doesn't take as long for you but I had suicidal thoughts and urges for 1 and 1/2 years before my psychiatrist found the best antidepressants and the proper doses for me to have my depression relieved. I was always open with him and he knew of my suicidal thoughts and urges.
I saw 3 psychologists during that time and none could help because my concentration and attention span was so poor. Now that I'm on the right meds, that's much better.
Please be patient with the process of finding the right medications and the right doses for you. It is hell to have to put up with depression while you are going through this process but it will all be worthwhile after your depression is resolved and you can have your normal life back.
You need to call the doctor that prescribed your antidepressant medication and get started back on it or something else as soon as you can.
One of the symptoms of depression is that everything seems hopeless even when there is everything to hope for. My heart is with you hon. If I could hang on until my meds got right, so can you because I'm no one special.
If you believe in God, ask Him for help. He loves you and wants to help you. If you don't believe, remember that you have people that love you.
If the urge to commit suicide gets strong enough that you feel afraid that you might do something, go directly to the Emergency Room of a Hospital.

FIRST OFF Call a suicide Line IMMEDIATELY and find a Friend to stay with you. The test is not as important as your life. Second stopping your meds may be the Exact reason you are having this reaction . When you quite anti-depressants cold turkey it can put your body/mind into a tailspin. So these feelings may be in part medical, not just emotional.
I would call your psychiatrist and/or an ER right away and ask what you can do to ‘reincorporate‘ them into your system safely at least for the time being. If and when it is healthy for you to be weaned off of them a Good physician can give you a recommendation as to how to do that safely.
If you do not feel your psychologist is being helpful to you - by all means find another one. There are also alternative practitioners and behavioral therapists out there that can offer a supportive role in your recovery if your psychologist is agreeable to allowing you to incorporate that as an option.
There are many options out there for you. Use your ‘keeping busy’ time to research what those are.
Good luck and best wishes to you and your future!

A question - for what reason were you cutting yourself? Stress relief? Anxiety? Boredom? Lonliness? I ask because the underlying cause of you deciding to do this might not go away just because you temporarily stop yourself. If you are cutting yourself because you are stressed out, anxious, bored, or lonely you can fill that void with an activity to take your mind and body away from that situation. Do something you haven't done before. Find a hobby or game to entertain yourself. Or simply get out of the house and enjoy the day! I'm not a doctor so please take my answer with a grain of salt. But, regardless, talking to someone - anyone - is the first step to solving your dilemma. Bravo!

Good luck tomorrow. I have to make a speech in front of my class, I hate public speaking-it makes me super nervous. I can't drop the class so I'm going to have to get through it. I'm sure you will get through your exam w/ no problem and even if you don't it's not the end of the world. Things always get better-you just have to stick around to see it. So once again, Good luck!! I hope things get better for you.

You know when it comes down to it, it is YOU who is the only person who can change your life. You have to want to change though. Keep putting your thoughts down on paper, that way you can go back and look at them in the future. I hope this has been of help. Keep smilin. :) and good luck with the exam.

You need to go to the hospital and tell them how you are feeling. Then, you will see a psychiatrist who will change your medication. You won't go in to a mental hospital unless you try to commit suicide or say that you will try.
If you are thinking about suicide right now, go to this site: http://www.metanoia.org/suicide/
and here is the website for the suicide helpline

Is there a suicide hotline in your area that you could call? They might have the best advice.
You NEED your therapy, and you need your meds. Please go back and get this done.
It is the strongest, wisest person who knows well enough to reach out for help when its' needed. Please do your therapy.
