When Jesus died, I was -2000 years old. So how impersonal is it to die for a future unborn person. It's very detatched thinking. What is his dying for? ( yes I know the bit about dying to take away sin and grant us eternal life yadda yadda ya) If He is part of the trinity, He is God, so taking a human form and dying doesn't mean much, after all He is God. I would think that a stranger diving and pushing me away from an incoming car and exchanging his own life would be of much greater sacrifice and significance. Don't you?

Honestly, my middle name is Thomas, i do doubt the whole thing, I have asked questions like this that have stumped theologians and all they can say in the end is, " It's a mystery" or " That is where your faith comes in", but that's not good enough for me, too many holes.

Ok, this is a tough one. For me I understand my faith believes in the trinity, and I see why they think it, but it is also easy for me to read scripture and see Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as seperate entities. For example, we are to honor Christ and recognize we are subservient to Him, we see Him as holy, as God is holy, but we are not to pray TO Him we pray THROUGH Him. He is our gateway to God the Father. If He was God why would it not be taught to pray to Jesus? Jesus prays to the father in the garden, saying not my will but yours. Why would He pray to himself? How could it be not His will but yet still His because they are the same? In Revelations and Daniel it speaks of the end times. During that time it is shown that God and Jesus are seperate. During judgement Jesus is not God He is our intersessor. Also in the gospels Jesus says I will depart and another will come, meaning the Holy Spirit. He does not say I will depart but a part of me will remain or return. He makes a distinction that it is another seperate being. So to me there are 3 seperate beings, all Holy, unified in their plan. And God the father is the head. Jesus is His Son and heir.

So I look at it more from the perspective of how much of a sacrifice was it for God to send His Son. For a person on earth to exchange their life it is indeed a sacrifice, but for someone to sacrifice their son. For someone to love you and value you so much that they would allow their son to sacrifice himself for you. That He had the power to stop it, that He could see His Son spit upon, lied against, tortured, beaten, mocked, and brutally and painfully murdered because He loves you, because He loves me, to me that is such a gift.

I can tell you as a mother, I don't love ANYONE that much. My rage, my fury, my vengence, my willingness to do anything to spare my child can not be expressed in words. But I am human, and I only have a glimmer of the capacity of love that God has. How much must it have hurt Him to see His Son there, to have to turn His back on Him because the sin of the world was being piled upon Jesus? If His love is so much greater than mine, so then must have been His sorrow.

For me this act has the greatest significance. For Jesus it was love and sacrifice, but also obedience. Total trust and respect. For God it was His Son.

Jesus gave humanity an option to be saved from oblivion. The part that's hard to accept in this story, is that Jesus had the perceptions of a man. A man of great faith mind you, but a man none-the-less.

As far as the " Stranger " goes, what do you think would happen to him when he got killed saving your life? Let's take a leap of faith here and say, " Go to heaven ". Now, with that in mind, how much of a sacrifice did this stranger really make?

Jesus, on the other hand, had absolutely nothing to gain by this action. And if he lost against the devil, every thing to lose. If Satan actually managed to break Jesus's will, before the allotted time, the plan of Salvation would be scrapped, humanity would be screwed, and I really don't want to think about it after that....

Just my opinion mind you, best wishes.

Jesus dies to save you and you're going to argue and complain about it?? No that's not arrogant, that's un thankful, conceited, vain. It doesn't mean much that GOD DIED FOR YOU?? Who do you think you are? If J.F.K. had taken the bullet that killed him to save you, would say it didn't mean much because he's the President? As God AND man, Jesus felt pain. He felt it just like you and I do. He was on a Roman Cross. The Roman soldiers knew what they were doing and it killed Him. He bleed real blood, the nails in His hands were real, so were the whip and thorns. You stumped theologians? Theologians in what? Tinker toys? I think you give yourself too much credit. I've written enough for now. Read, really read and contemplate the Bible. Talk to a major denomination pastor and see what you come up with. God Bless You.

You know what? No matter how many times the truth be told to you you will never get it, why? Because the Bible says the stubborn, God will make them more stubborn than they already are. So there is nothing anyone can say to convince you otherwise. But then sadly there will come a time when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. I hope for you it's not too late. You may not appreciate him now but the time will come when you will beg and wish that you had accepted Him as your Lord and Saviour. May God bless you and His grace fall on you.

Question #1: Jesus was not God. God, Jesus' Father, cannot die, he has no beginning, no end. Question #2: God Almighty, the only true God raised Jesus from death. Question #3: The ransom was paid for Adam's sin and loss of perfection. God could not be a ransom as he is not human. It was his Son who, as a human on earth, ransomed us with his perfect blood. Question #4: God didn't die, the price was fully paid by Jesus Christ, his Son who gave his life on earth to give all mankind hope of eternal life. There is no mystery, this is easy to understand and easily proved with scripture. It's not the convoluted morass trinitarians insist it is.

God, and therefore Christ, exists out side of time and knows all things. Therefore, Christ knew you when He died for you 2000 years ago.

Christ, as part of the Trinity, existed in perfect communion with the other members of the Trinity. At the moment of death, Christ was separated from God the Father. This is why Christ said, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me." Until we are in the presence of God, we will not understand the magnitude of pain this entails. We have an indication of the pain in watch a child removed from its mother.

As for the stranger pushing you to safety, it's not even close. Christ's death opens the door for me to know God in a personal way and to one day stand in the presence of God. The stranger only buys you a few more days.

I know I'm going to get a bunch of thumbs down from the Christians, but that's okay, I have to respond according to my beliefs, what I have studied, and what makes sense to me. (That's what this forum is all about - not simply Christian views.)

First, Jesus did not come to die. He came to deliver a message to the people of that time as to the path back to heaven. He came to be a living example of what we all could be. The people of that time were threatened by the message and what Jesus stirred up, so they attempted crucifixion. It didn't work. Jesus survived the crucifixion and it is well documented that he visited other countries and lived years beyond the crucifixion. (Research it on the internet and you will find a LOT of information about it.)

The idea that anyone can die for all of humanity and wipe away sins (that haven't even yet been committed????) makes little sense. Jesus is not God. He was a messenger of God. His comments "I am one with the Father" applies to each of us. We are all "one with the Father" in that we are a drop from the ocean of love and mercy (God). The message Jesus delivered has been greatly misunderstood and misinterpreted. It was intended for the disciples -- his followers. The same message has been delivered before and after Jesus. This message will continue to be delivered from God, so that all have the opportunity to hear it and grasp it.

When a person is guilty and when he appears before court and if there is justice done, will that person be punished in this world.
The people all born in this world will be judged one day. Don't you think? why will a person who killed and did various terrible mistakes go unpunished if there is a God who will show justice?
On that day of Justice, are you without guilt? Have you had a life without doing any mistake? So all have done mistakes. But Jesus said, " His blood will wash all sin". Thats why it did my sin. It is makes us worthy to stand before our creator without guilt. Some things are difficult to understand, but ask God to help you out.
But definitely there is God, I feel His presence so much. He is powerful and loves us so much, that He allows us to slowly make our way into knowing Him.

Adam sinned and the penalty was to die. And as Adam's offspring, we have all died ever since.
When Adam was created, the Bible says nothing about him having to die. He was meant to live forever, and still have family.
His disobedience, prompted by Eve, caused death.
(Romans 5:12) That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned—.

Jesus died and so paid the ' ransom' price to have that 'sentence' removed from you.
If you are obedient and survive Armageddon, you will no longer die, but remain young///forever.
The onus is on you. Jesus has already paid.
If you survive, where will you live?
Psalms 37; 9,11,29,34
On the earth.
no more want.
no more evil.
a perfect world.

You may feel your not arrogant, but trust me you are.
You are also hurting because you are unable to grasp the reasons why.
John 3:16 says it all.
For God so loved the world.
The sacrifice has been made, whether or not you chose to avail yourself of it is another matter.
