Good parents do.
Where I see the biggest problem in parenting is that people love their children, but they do not love being parents. Too many people view their children as a burden or interference with their careers, hobbies, lives...etc. When in reality all those things are interfering with their number one calling of being a good parent. It's not enough to love your children; you need to love being their parent also.

Some do, many don't... Parents are supposed to though- millions of years of evolution has given a great advantage to folks that help their children succeed... The children are in essence the parents replacement in the world and therefore they should take good care of them and value them more highly than they value themselves..

I know that I do. I seem to always put myself last and not take care of myself as much as I should. That's not necessarily a good thing. I think that we should show our children that we should love ourselves and that we are important too. We can love ourselves and still be the best mom or dad to our children.

As a parent it is important to know who you are as an individual. Because I have acknowledged and loved myself I have no problem transferring all that love and positive energy to my children first, my spouse second, and myself last. But the key is to have that sense of self and who your are.

I'm not a parent, but I love my sisters and my parents more than my own life. I would die for them, because I love them more than anything. I was raised to really value family. To me, family is the most important thing in the world.

I think most mums do. They feel very protective of their children and want them to live the best life they possibly can. If you love yoourself more than your children then i believe maybe you werent meant to be a mother.

I know, I myself have to say I always put my children before me,but I believe that you must love yourself first to be able to love another, even that of your child, but it is a different kind of love we have for ourselves, compared to the love we have for our children.
