What do the numbers and letters under the soda(pop) caps mean?

They are codes. If you go to that particular soda company's website there is a place where you can type in the codes to see if you have won anything.
The caps used to actually tell you if you won something, now you have to go online and give them all of your info just to find out you have lost and you will continue to get email for the rest of your email's life. eecck!
