As the mother of 3 boys, I don't think "normal" is a word I'd use. However "common" is. At one point or another all 3 of my boys did the same thing, and there were times we couldn't keep pants on them. Don't overreact when you see them doing this, but do respond by letting them know that it's not nice and it's dirty....also that there are places on other people that shouldn't be touched. That's worked for me, however I can't get my boys to stop touching themselves. However, at that young of an age, it's a discovery thing, but just let them know it's not appropriate.

I used to hump the armrest of the couch, and my mother asked the Doctor and he said I would out grow it, Hmm ? Im Forty four 44 and I can helpp spending time at ( You'll Love it at Levitz) an Jennifer convertibles_
LOL
But really ask your doctor for real reassurance, I did out grow it ( by 6 yo )and I bet if you say nothing they will out grow it pretty soon They probably wont be homophobic gay bashing kids, Or they may grow up not even remembering they used to play like that either way its not all that bad. I dont think you should give them negative reinforcement on the issue. Just let them grow out of it as they most certainly will. I wouldnt tell them they are bad for doing it or that it is bad, It pretty hilarious and not too inappropriate given their age, Maybe say in a Jovial way are you playing with butt again ?
I bet if you make a video of them rubbing their butt on things all over the house you have a good memory to look back on and have a real good laugh !
Yeah, get some tape on it, and if their 8 9 or ten then show it Im sure that will put an end to it when its really not cool, But for now its cool LOL

Yep. My friend's two year old does that constantly, he even will put his finger up there! Lol, sometimes I think he pees his pants on purpose so he can run around with it all out for a few hours while we wash his pants cause he only does it when not at home. Lol. Sounds like things are getting interesting at your house! Just gotta tell them no a billion times and wait for them to outgrow it, oh wait, they're male. Good luck!

My son is only about 4 now and did the very similar ingredient at that age. even as he nevertheless reverts lower back to the former behaviors each and every from time to time (usually even as he has skipped his nap) he has, for the most section, grown out of it. We were given him to end throwing issues through eliminating the object that develop into thrown. His renowned ingredient to do nevertheless is to "strive against" his Transformers, Spiderman, in call for human being Wars figures. i'd keep an eye fixed on him to verify he's not getting worse as he learns to communicate extra perfect, although that is enormously known habit.

Thats normal...hes just having fun. If you are concerned with it however just sit down and let him know what is appropriate and what is not. For example its ok to do it at home but in public he needs to be a big boy, etc

i think yes it is normal to a point, for the 2-3 year olds...they are just exploring. but for a 5 year old, he should definatly know better.

i don't know if it's *normal* but my son does that, too.. also whips *it* out a lot and moons me all the time. it's funny.. highly inappropriate, but funny nonetheless.
I just try to tell him, with as straight a face as I can muster, that big boys keep their hands out of their pants and keep their privates put away.

It's a natural thing for kids that age to explore. Just let them know that it's inappropriate and also very dirty.
