Talk to your coach about your goals, are they realistic, and what does he/she recommend? If you are going for a light weight class, e.g. 103 or 112, you are trying to drop 10% of your bodyweight. That's nasty and hard on your body.

One can lose 3-5 lbs of fat in that time (if you have any to lose) if you are doing daily wrestling workouts. Eat light, but balanced meals with lots of veggies (avoid anything with sugar). Guess where on you body it will come off? You might need to add a second workout for a few days to help out.

The balance can be achieved with dehydration in the 24 hours before weigh-in. This is the safest route and will leave you with the most energy.

Don't starve yourself in the last couple of days before weigh-in or you will be weak. Avoid heavy and slow to digest foods, e.g. beef, pork, in the last 2-3 days before weigh-in. It can sit in your intestines that long. Eat more fish, dairy, and veggie's. Try not to eat after 7 p.m.

Talk to your coach about your progress in weight loss and how you are feeling.

Rapid weight loss is bad for the sport of wrestling and it isn't necessary to be competitive. My son was high school state champ in 2005. His body fat test allowed him to wrestle at 171 lbs, but he didn't want to starve, so went to 189 and won big!

Well... how do I say "I didn't tell you this but..." on this thing!? Haha... Anyway, I knew some girls in high school who were powerlifters, and sometimes they had to drop 2-3 lbs. for a meet the next day. So, they put on 3 layers of clothes, sweats the outer layer normal work out clothes underneath, and ran for maybe a mile or so. That's just water weight. Maybe you could do that the morning of, or the night before?

Until then, drink lots and lots of water. I mean a lot!! Pretty much replace everything you drink with water. Eat foods high in Protein, Calcium, Vitamins C & E. You could even go to a Whole Foods or something like it, and get Chromium Pocolanate (sp.?), in a pill form, and take it daily WITH YOUR LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER!!! ;)

And excersize.

So!! Lots and lots of water... Nice healthy diet that keeps your metabolism going... and EXCERSIZE!!!

I know, I know... genius.

** I know he ^ up there ^ is talking about just water weight... but seriously, you should be on a good schedule with your health and fitness... so take drastic measures if that's your personal competitive nature... but try to stay healthy during the process!! Have Fun!!

the easiest way for wrestlers to lose weight, is to lose WATER weight. If you go into the sauna a few days before your meet, you can lose about 7 pounds of sweat alone. Where sweat shirts all the time, and if your hardcore, walk around all day with a bottle and spit in it every time you need to swallow.

this is the quickest way for wrestlers to flux their weight, and still not lose any muscle or real mass.
