There are a lot of different ways to think about a person's ideal body weight. Some people would consider it to be the weight that was directly proportional to a person's height, so that you wouldn't have people who are short and fat or tall and thin...
A 'better' way to think about a person's ideal body weight is as what is a 'healthy' weight for their age and height using their body mass index.

Please keep in mind that many factors go into determining if someone is 'healthy' and that this is just one tool. Talk to your Pediatrician if you have concerns about your child's weight.

A 12 year old (female) child who is 98 pounds and is 4 feet and 10 inches tall has a body mass index of 20.5, which is at the 77th percentile, and would indicate that your child is at a healthy weight.

That doesn't sound fat to me. . .you know how boys your age can be, they'll make fun of you for anything they can think of, even if you're not fat at all. In fact, he *may* have a crush on you and is trying to figure out some way to get your attention. Something to think about!

No that's not overweight, in fact I'd say you're just about perfect except for listening to silly boys with too much to say.
