I like Orion. Go to www.telescope.com and check them out.

10x50 is actually all you need for nice, hand held astronomical observation. You can go to maybe 12 power, but beyond that you will need a tripod to hold them still. Orion has some real monster binoculars. They are a quality company with good prices and they offer various levels of equipment.
