There are times when forgiveness can be very difficult. I too, had a violent crime committed against me, and found it very hard to forgive my perpetrator. But, after my anger finally dissipated, (and it took a long time) i realized that my anger was unproductive and gave my perp power over me. Recognize, too, that when you do forgive a sinner, this does not mean that you are condoning the sin. For the Christian, forgiveness means trustfully leaving the matter in God's hands. He is the righteous Judge of all the universe, and he will carry out justice at the right time.

People cannot forgive other people as they most likely would not be able to forgive themselves. Say, for example, you were driving down the road tomorrow and you looked at the stereo to change the station and hit a kid crossing the road, killing him on impact. Although it was never your intention to hurt anyone, this child is now dead. Could you forgive yourself easily? No. It's about digging down deep and realizing that we are all human. Like I've said in many of my answers before, people that are under severe emotional distress there is a basic human need to know that we all bleed the same colour. Love them as a person, inspite of all their flaws - they're only human. Take it for what it is but that's just my personal view.

That's why it's so difficult for most Christians to go to heaven. In the Old Testament, it was an eye for an eye,
but in the NT, Jesus said bless those who curse you.
It is difficult, yes but not impossible as shown in the
news of the Amish community who forgave the killer
of their children saying, if we do not forgive him, Jesus will not forgive us. Let's not give ourselves excuses to
fail Him that has sacrifice His Son for us.

Well, I've been incredibly upset with someone before and it doesn't make things better - it makes things worse. Anger and hate actually are more detrimental to the person who holds these feelings. Maybe that's one reason why we're told to forgive - for our own good. Also, we're required to forgive those who offend us, but it's up to God whom he will choose to forgive. I think we also have to forgive others because God forgives us when we ask him to - so refusing to forgive others, even when they ask for our forgiveness would be wrong and hypocritical of us.

You are right in saying that the Bible, with a big "B", says we are to love our neighbor. God loves all His children. He loves them that do His Will and those that ignore Him.
Let us take a lesson from Him and do the same. Who is your neighbor? Its everyone out there. Who is your enemy? Is it the ones that do not do the Will of God? No. Its everyone.
Whether they are good or bad, they are the children of God. We are to treat everyone as we want to be treated. We have a set of rules to follow and they are contained in the Word of God.
What does the Word of God tell us about people that murder? The Word tells us to send them to the Father for trial. Doesn't say anything about love or hate. Try them in a lawful civil court and if found guilty, execute them as per law.
Everyone who claims to be a Christian and does not follow the Words God has given us condemns themselves and they are not Christian. We all need to let God rule. Its that simple.><>

the bible did say that yes.. it didn't say it was easy but the bible also says if we don't forgive them their sins Christ can't forgive us ours. I have a friend of mine who has gone through this for the last 15 years she found her grandmother murdered stabbed something like 20x and other things too. It's been h*ll on her and she's gone down many difficult paths.... all we can do for them is pray for Christ to heal their wounded hearts, mind & emotions.

As hard as it would be i would forgive. God will judge them and give them there rightful punishment. Besides who are we to judge poeople no matter what. People do stupid things but noone is perfect. But just cuz i forgive the person doesn't mean i have to like them. I won't hate them though.

I think it would depend on how the loved one was killed. If it was a brutal murder, I would find it very hard to forgive. An accident, I could let go eventually.

Yes,Its hard with our own human limitations, but with the help of God we possibly can....When we think that we ourselves are not perfect too,we have made lots of sin before and God stil continually forgive us there is no reason why we cant forgive them too if they repent and ask forgiveness heartily...:)

wanting someone to die sounds so poisonous and hateful. Why double the pain by keeping that in your heart? You don't forgive for them, you forgive for your own peace.
