I have always burned music CDs on my computer using regular CD-R cds.... I bought this new Sony CD player/recorder and I come to find out that it only will record CDs formatted as "Audio." These same CDs cost about twice as much in the store.

Is there a way to convert a regular CD-R disc into an "Audio" disc?

You can't. That info (ID) is embedded in the hidden lead area of these special CDs.
