On the contrary to the above. Bluapunkt is in the top ten of audio products and easily equals JL and Rockford.

The reason for the reduced price is name brand. It's like the Gucci name, you pay for the name, not the product. Blaupunkt doesn't beleive in this so you get a much better deal.

Blaupunkt means "blue dot" in German and has been the sign of quality for many years. In fact all through the 80's and 90's GM's "Delco" radio line was really Blaupunkt tape decks. I know this because Blaupunkt was stamped right in the metal of the tape deck housing.

In fact I have a Sony amp and Bluapunkt subs and everybody asks if they are JL or some other name brand. When I show them it's Sony and Blaupunkt, their jaws always drop in disbelief.

Sony is actually becoming quite the contender as ALL of their amps are now CEA-2006 compliant, meaning they are tested by the Consumer Electronics Association and meet or exceed the testing guidelines set forth by the CEA. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-uyK9gOGgZod/popups/cacomp.html

"You get what you pay for" is so over rated these days as more and more "low-opinion" companies are stepping up to the plate and breaking the "junk" barrier by becoming stiff competition for the big name brands.

Blaupunkt is a leader. They have great mid range speakers and great head units. Their subs are ok also. I would drop Blaupunkt in my ride in a second. And i have been doing this for 20 years. I sell Blaupunkt because of the price. You can still get into a nice 6.5 door speaker for under $75. Try that with JL or Rockford... Or for that matter most of the higher end names out there. If you want to talk more or want prices hit me up. I can get over 50 brands of audio equipment but the bottom line is you get what you get not what you pay for with car audio. Hit me up...

Blaupunkt was a leader... in the mid 1980s. They made phenomenal FM tuners, but the rest of their products were never really elite.
