Seriously, I know there's a lot of paintings with cats, but I'm afraid to paint my kitty because they always seem so cutesy, kind of like card playing dogs. Does anyone know of a painting by a famous artist with a cat in it that works as as "high art"? What about clowns??!!

There is a book called "Impressionists CATS & DOGS"

"Luncheon of the Boating Party"... P.A. Renoir...
FAMOUS painting. The woman on the left has a dog on the table.

Renoir also has clowns...

The very famous painting by Manet titlted "Olympia" has a black cat in the right hand corner. This painting created shock when first exhibited.
"Clowns"? There are alot of them. Look at Picasso, Degas and Monet with their 'jesters and halequinns'. Pasted below is one from Ensor albeit a little disturbed.
