My cat seems to go into heat? Could it be that she was unsuccessfully spayed? What are the "symptoms"? Is this a common problem?

Some residual tissue may have been left afte rthe initial spay (this happens if the cat is spayed too young) and she may be showing signs of going into a psuedo-heat. Return to the vet and have her checked out.

There is always a possibility that the spay was not complete and there is a remnant of the ovaries. It may be small, but enough to cause the cat to go into heat. Also, sometimes both are not taken out, because one may have moved to a different location in the abdomen. Vets usually do not do exploratory surgery if they cannot find both; it is assumed that she may have only developed one, or the other may have shrunk and not be functional for some reason.

They would cause the same affects as going into a normal heat. Ask your vet about this. There may be a note in her file about issues during the spay, and if so, can be rectified.

Spaying a cat takes out all the hormone producing parts. There is nothing in there to cause her to go into heat.
Unless the vet somehow didn't do the surgery, but then she would be pregnant by now, and the is VERY UNCOMMON!!
Chances are she is just loud and friendly. Try only paying attention to her when she is quiet.

My cat was spayed and never shows any kind of sign that she is ever in heat, maybe you should take her back to the vet.
