Francesca it would help if you had put what you said or did but tell your friend that you don't like the feeling that this incident has caused some space between you guys or just invite your friend to go somewhere that you know they enjoy and let the day be about them.

Were you truly sincere? I'm going to say that you were, and it was just a mistake from not taking more time to think about the situation before acting. Francesca, you will just have to wait it out. If you have apologized, and the friend is being hard to get, they are probably trying to inflict hurt back to you. Give it time, and hopefully the injury will heal.

Email her explaining how you messed up, why you messed up and why you won't let it happen again. Tell her how much you value her as a friend.
If she doesn't soften and open the door to you again, you're friend was no friend to begin with.
