Currently, it is not. However, if abortion is going to continue to be legal and allow women to avoid parenthood totally. Then the least they could do is make it so men can do so partially. After all, the man cannot keep a woman from having it and by default making him an unknown parent, but it should be possible for him to monetarily or emotionally give up all rights. I mean if we are going to live in a country with equal rights. How can you give women this choice without allowing men at least a similar option?

NO, don't be another deadbeat dad!!!. If you got someone pregnant, then you will have to pay child support until the child is an adult. And you should also be a part of this childs life, even if you don't want to have a relationship with the woman. If the woman decides to keep the child, why should she be the only one that supports it. If you cannot stand up to the responsibility of being a father, then you need to cover things or stay away from sex.

And to the really stupid comment by Michael, When men start to carry and deliver babies into this world, then they can have the right to choose. Until then keep your ignorant and naive comments to yourself.

Impregnates...? Disclaim the child.??

This is not a donkey or a car.. It's a child...... Weather you like the mom or not you are still the father and WILL be the father till the end of time.

I think you're talking about signing away his parental rights.

1. If she's pregnant but not married to the man, she cannot put his name on the birth certificate without an affidavit of paternity, or a DNA test

2. If the man is listed on the birth certificate as the father, but wants to sign away his rights, he can only do so if there is another man (usually a new spouse) willing to adopt the child and assume financial responsibility for the child.

lol don't you wish it was that easy!? UMMMM NO! the state will more than likely make you do a paternal test and if she takes you to court for child support then you either have to pay or sign away your rights, but don't think it's going to be easy getting out of it. It's partially your fault also, you should take responsibility.

If you both agree, you have the option of relinquishing parental rights. This is a legal matter and there are consequences. You may be still required to provide medical coverage or to pay support.

No. You knock a girl up and she gets pregnant you have a legal obligation to either help care for the baby, or pay child support bills.

Ah no...all it takes is a court order and DNA baby and you are coughing up the ka-ching.

Might want to figgure out what causes pregnancy and make sure someone (either you or dad) puts a hat on next time (If you know what I mean!)!
