She must have a smell that is telling him that she is going in heat and he is guarding her. There is a thing called a silent heat where she wont bleed but he will sure smell it. This is a good time to have him neutered. He also knows that the puppies don't need her attention any more and he wants it back. She wouldn't be showing even if she is pregnant (which I highly doughty is she is still nursing or just finished) PS tummy maybe worms, either way she should have a check up because puppies take a lot of health away from mom.

We just breed our Shih Tzu and the symptoms we noticed were, she appeared more tired, her teats started to swell, she did lose her appetite, then became quite hungry so we upped her meals to 3 a day, she followed me around more than usual and closer to her time she just wanted to sit on my lap, and then she started to go under beds and behind lounges looking for a safe dark place to deliver. I do suggest you take her to the vet we had ours xrayed and it showed up 2 puppies unfortunatley she did deliver when we were at work, so knowing we were only waiting on 2 was a relief when she did deliver just 2 puppies and she had cleaned them up all on her own. Also try and get her a big box lined with old towels/newpaper and take her there in the last weeks so she has a safe place to deliver( we kept ours inside so she wouldn't go under the house)and this is were she headed on her own to deliver. But definatley take her to the vet, dogs usually go on heat twice a year and not always every 6 mths ( ours was 5mths) and she was 9mths after her last heat(when she concieved). She did go off her food when she was feeding as the pups were quite demanding in feed times, so on advice form our vet we fed her BBQ chicken and some pet milk formula to keep her healthy, the first week she didn't stray far from pups one squeal and she was back. good luck

The puking worries me most. Change her to a bland diet (white rice, cottage cheese, and boiled chicken) and see if it clears up. If it doesn't, take her to a vet for treatment. Puking is not common in pregnant dogs. She could be having stomach problems.

Also, I'd have to agree with the idea of spaying her if you know nothing about breeding and ,I'm guessing, didn't plan on having puppies. Spaying prevents pregnany and reproductive related problems like pyometria (pus-filled uterus [which is pricey to treat and painful for the dog]). So, spaying her is better for her.

i don't mean this in a bad way, but if you know nothing about this you need to have the female spayed and the male neutered. they will be healthier and better pets for it. also a male in the house will not make your female go into heat more often, you need to take her to the vet at least.

well they become less playful and don't run a lot they get tired a lot too, and they will be near the male and sometimes apart from the humans. and remember when she has the puppies don't touch them, the mom is very protective.
