I would tell your friend the feelings you have for this women and that you have just been working up the courage to ask her on a date. If the friend says okay I can respect that I willlet you go for it and see where it goes with the two of you atleast you will know your friend is a friend. But really if you have this crush it is better to tell them your feelings before someone else who is not your friend makes a play for her. Get going stop procrastinating its either rejection or a yes you will never know unless you try.

Choose one or the other and stick to it. You can't have both. By the middle of your sophomore year in college you will have lost touch with both so it really doesn't matter which on your choose but if you try to have it both ways you will remember the consequences well into your 30's.
