Yes! You file college tuition and books on Form 8863, which breaks the college credit into 2: the Hope and Lifetime Learning Credits. The Hope credit is for students attending the first 2 years college, and the Lifetime Learning Credit is for 3 years of college and beyond.

Are you paying on student loans? If you are then yes, you should receive something in the mail that you take with you when you file your taxes (it is a form similar to a W2). Even if they are loans and you are paying for tuition directly out of your pocket it never hurts to ask. You can call a tax company and ask before you go to file.

It depends. Do you live with your parents? Are they supporting you? If you answered No to both those questions, then you may possibly be able to file your tuition on your taxes. If you are still living with your parents and they claim you as a dependent on their tax return, then you can NOT claim your tuition. However, your parents CAN claim your tuition regardless of who actually paid for it... (Yes, even if you paid for it).

the way of price received't count. Get a receipt for sure. if you're no longer claimed as a depending on yet another tax go back, the optimum credit you'll get for education expenditures is $2,500. 60% of the credit is going to shrink any tax you owe, and 40% is refundable. So once you've not got the different earnings, you may want to get up to $a million,000 paid to you in case you qualify.
