It depends on what kind of peanut butter you get.
If it is the factory packaged stuff. It sits on the shelf in the cabinet because if it is put in the fridge. Then it is to hard to spread.
Now if it is made with fresh peanuts and turned into peanut butter. It goes in the fridge because it does not have all of the preservatives in it and it will spoil and if it does that. Then you have a lab experiment and not peanut butter.

unless the label states that the Peanut Butter is Natural (ie, not processed, no additives) then it should be fine in a cool dark place. Only Natural Peanut butter HAS to be refrigerated. Look on the label...it will tell you.

Refrigeration is not necessary after all its hard to spread rock hard peanut butter. I think it'll last a few months in the cupboard.

Depends on where you live. Mostly just the pantry cupboard - but if you live in tropical climates like northern oz you will need to store in fridge. I guess store below 23deg Celcius.

Only in the fridge if it's the natural stuff with no preservatives. Otherwise, it's in the cupboard.

If it is organic PB or "natural" like Smucker's, do refrigerate it. Otherwise, your Skippy,Peter Pan,Jif put it on a cool shelf (not right above your stove) in your cupboard.

Leave it in the pantry. You'll have a hard time spreading it if you put it in the fridge.
