I was on verapamil for 6 months with no relief from migraines. I was at a dose of 240mg/day. Now when I try to wean off it I get severe migraines at doses less than 60mg/day. Will the migraines go away after a period of time?
verapamil was doing me no good and caused weight gain, but I can't seem to stop taking it without complications.

You have not gotten rid of the cause of the migraines. Almost always they are a result of the cause/effects of the muscles being too tight in part keeping the blood flow low and part pressing on nerves. Taking vitamins is an excellent place to start - there is a heart surgeon in CA that recommends a prenatal vitamin (even for the guys) because it is what we need to grow and sustain us. I would bet that at least for a little while magnesium and potassium would help you (I use molasses but bananas do the same thing but slower).
If you have a massage therapist near by they can start working on helping the muscles relax.
Also read a book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches about muscles, pain and referred pain and how to make most go away 75% success rate for all of $20.00.

because you were dependent on this drug, and withdraw is common. You body got used to verafimil and a high dose, even, this will ease with time, if not talk with your doctor.
