To do a disk clean, you can go to the Settings
button then go to Control Panel. From you control panel, click on Internet Settings. From
there, you can clear your cookies, settings,
files (including offline files) and history. You
can set how many days you want history to
remain (0 days to a few). After clearing you need
to check done, or some such. Then you to
your Programs, look for your Defragmetting
program. You start it (by the way you can
choose to defragment one drive which is normally C, or you can select to defragment several drives at once). It gives you several
choices. Start the program. You can click to
view it larger. It takes awhile. If it keeps
repeating at 10 percent, you probably will need
to scan your drive first. Use the scan feature.
Then, after a successrul scan finishes, start the defragment. The scan is a separate program.
You can use it separately, and if the degragmenting program gets stuck and keeps
repeating at ten percent of it, you need to stop,
run the scan instead, finish a successful scan,
and then the defragment program should run ok.
You can also set automatic times for clean ups
and defragmenting, using your Scheduler.
Frequent regular cleanups and defragmenting
will greatly help your computer.
If you degragment every
week or so, you will keep you computer running
much better.. Try to use the clean up feature
after every computer use or frequently. There
is also a clean up feature, but the one I shared
is more thorough. Good luck. By the way, you
will have to turn you virus scan and firewall
OFF to successfully run the defragment program. Be sure to turn them back on as soon
as the defragment is complete. The defragment
prgram will give you a little message when it
completes. You can set defrag to automatically
fix any errors it finds.

Scandisk
defrag
Suggest you Scandisk in Safe Mode. Anything running in the background will make it stop and restart ad infinitum.
