You need to get back with your Doctor and explain that your medication isn't working for you.If it was an antibiotic wouldn't you do the same. Now call and get that appointment made.God Bless You.

The doctor usually starts you out on a low dose for about a week or two, then he will increase it gradually over time. But it has to be carefully monitored. Some medications don't work - - - so every individual case is different. You need to talk to your doctor as soon as possible about the side effects you are experiencing. My daughter took Paxil for awhile. She's 17, and for awhile, it worked fine, then she started having the same symptoms you describe. However, in my opinion and after research I've done, I don't think Paxil is a good drug to take. We got her off of it.

Prescribing anti-depressants is a guessing game. Regular doctors are definitely guessing when they prescribe. Psychiatrist is a better choice of doctor if you need help with depression, however, they are also guessing when they prescribe certain drugs, but at least it is a more educated guess.

If over time, you still have no luck with treating your depression, get busy and do some research on alternative ways to cope with it. Nutritional supplements, light therapy, exercise, yoga, detoxing, and cognitive therapy can all be helpful. Just be sure to do your homework on the supplements before taking them. Some, like St. John's Wort, cannot be used along with taking meds. Good luck.
