Why would you do it for the points.
The points are worth ZERO.

Look at it from another point (sorry for the pun) of view.
You re sharing your knowledge and helping out people you would normally not come in contact with.
Hopefully the answers are good and can be of benefit to someone.

I see questions from pc's to "Hi I'm 12 yrs old and what to know when I should have sex" or what's the consequences of having sex etc..
If you are only able to help one person with your knowledge then that is the reward.

Be choosy on the questions you answer (your expertise so to say) you never know who's at the other end but if the intentions are good, true, honest and tested then you should be proud of the fact that you helped someone or prevented someone from making a mistake.

The higher your level...the more questions per day you can answer...which if you're really bored...that's nice...

At Christmas time that gave away some free stuff...but if you wanted anything good you had to be at least level 4 or 5...but really...there is no point...it's just something to do...does everything HAVE to have a point?

It's like a game, try to get to that next level! Early on, more points gets you able to answer more questions and rate answers and so on... after a while you could never reach the limit anyways. Right now it's a game for me to reach level 4.

What's the point of answering question's?
To help other's get answer's.

What's the point of earning Yahoo Point's?
To get to the next level, and no you can't earn any prizes.

It isn't so much as the points helping you as the person asking the question. If someone is asking a question and gets replies with advice, they are more likely to listen to someone with more experence.

It's a way to encourage you to answer more questions. I don't really care for points because I don't really answer questions that often, only if they really appeal to me and I really know the subject. Anyways, there is really no point to this but I just like helping out other people.

A girl/guy gets to be Dear Abby or Abner for a minute, it is good for that. But when you don't get your syndicated column, you just pretend that is what you are doing for a living. You have to be creative like that. Nice, the points can be like a paycheck without the buy-ability :)/

The points have really no value, but they are an incentive in teaching/learning/communicating/sharing to/with others, and also just for the fun of it. They give you an identity.
