Tell your roomate to try Campral. It's a prescription that makes you not want liquor, but won't make you sick.
I hate to break it to you, though, if he's not ready to change there is NOTHING you can do.

How about this...don't put alcohol in it at all. In fact, make a vow with all your friends that there will be no alcohol served at a party this friend attends and if she shows up drunk someone immediately drives her home.
Or, spike the party with her sober concerned friends, family and an AA counselor.

you cant with an alcoholic
,they dont drink for the taste ,they drink for alcohol content
so if they drink vodca for example ,and you water it down ,they will keep on drinking untill they get their required level
if you put bad tasting stuff with it they will still drink it because they are going for the alcohol not the taste
that is why there are so many meth drinkers who drink revolting stuff ,but they do because it gives them an instant feeling ,its the feeling that they persue
i was for a while with an alcoholic and tried everything
a loosing battle
hiding the drinks makes them violent
there is nothing you can do ,these people need professional and medical help ,but they will never volunteer for that
only when they are up to their necks in disaster ,they may seek help ,but dont bet on it.

Maybe a little exlax. They will not have a good night! Also try getting them some help....bring them to an AA meeting. They may be pissed at you, but it's for their own good.

GET ANOTHER ROOM MATE if this bothers your. Unless a person with an addiction acknowledges that they have that addiction you are preaching to a brick wall. It took my brother his third DUI and the court system in CA to make him admit it. My aunt is a high level funtioning alcoholic and my mother had to quit drinking because it interfeared with the meds she was taking.
My hopes are that your room mate gets smart befor they die or kill some one

I don't think it is a good idea to spike someone's drink. If you are that worried about the person talk to them or plan an intervention.

I've been in recovery for over ten years. You're not going to find a Pavlovian cure here. Your friend may never seek help for his or her problem. Since you can't make decisions for him or her the best thing you can do is make an intentional choice for yourself as to whether or not this is the best room mate situation for you.
From a guy in recovery who recognizes his own capacity to fall of the wagon tomorrow, I would strongly recommend that you consider living with someone at a more stable part in his or her life.

You should never spike anyone's drink. Period.
Here's a link you can share with and discuss with your friend.
It's about antabuse, the first drug ever approved for treating problem drinkers.

here you go sweety, salt peter you know the big blocks of salt cows lick. put a little in his glass and this will cause him to become temperarily impotent for about a week. he'll stop drinking when he thinks that it's the alcohol doing it.
