He sheds year around. We use "shed control" shampoo and brush him but his hair keeps falling out.

There is a product called The Ferminator. It removes the undercoat of a dog. You can really see a difference. When you stroke the dog once the hair removable is very noticable. You can buy it a local pet store.

He may need a change of diet and/or supplements. Corn and wheat are major allergens for dogs and are often excessively used in dog food. Soy is not good for dogs.
There are many good foods out there and one brand I know of that has food formulated for terriers is Royal Canin.
If you decide to change your dogs food, do it gradually. Some things I have added to lessen shedding and improve skin and coat for my dogs are 3V Caps-Skin Formulation from my Vet. These have Omega 3, Vit A, D and E and all work together to improve skin and coat.
In addition you can add a raw egg every other day to your dogs diet and grind and add the shell as well, or you can soft boil an egg and feed it without the shell.
Some things I also add a few spoons of to my dogs kibble (They eat Nature's Recipe):
plain lowfat yogurt or cottage cheese
pumpkin pie filling
chicken or beef scraps
you can also occasionally give your dog a bit of canned salmon. Just a tad.
Some veggies I give them with scraps include: carrots, green beans- not much of this.
No fruits normally but they do like if I slice and freeze bannana and feed the frozen slices to them for treats.
Here's a site with some ideas for feeding too which you might want to incorporate some of for your dog:

Our Jack Russell sheds all the time also. He is healthy and feed a premium diet. And they don't really have an undercoat. Brushing gently might help but you don't want to over do it. I can't use the wire kind on mine because it irritates him then he starts chewing at his back then he gets sores. Use a soft brush with nylon bristles or something.

Normal, I have a Jack Russel Terrier. She is 12 years old now and i have had her since she was a puppy. She always sheds a little, all year round. She has no skin problems, and doesn't scrach at herself. Vet says it's normal. brushing helps a bit, but you can not end it, it's natural.

First stop might be your vet just to ensure that the dog doesn't have any medical condition that might be causing this.

After that, if nothing is wrong, a change of diet might be in order. The better quality of food, the healthier the dog and the less shedding you will see.

What about stress? Is the dog getting sufficient exercise? JRT's need quite a bit because they are high energy dogs and prone to problamatic behaviours if they don't get enough activity.

JRTs shed like maniacs all the time!! The best thing you can do is brush him daily and supplement his food with flaxseed oil...but he will still shed!

If he is not already on it, I would try a super premium dry dog food like Natural Balance and an omega fatty acid supplement.
