Did anyone experience numbness in thier feet (top of foot up and around the ankle) or hands? Hot hands or tingling itching palms?

After you started taking synthroid... describe what it did for you?

Experiences with medications, doctors; etc.

I just had my blood test come back with a high TSH result. I am tired all the time, little patience for peope, bloated, dry skin, dry hair, premature gray, have trouble concentrating sometimes, dry eyes, gassy, COLD, ( I actually cannot tolerate hot or cold... only like 80 is comfortable for me), low energy, apathetic, tingling or itching hands, top of foot went numb for a few months once.

Anything interesting anyone wants to share related to this condition... feel free. Thanks!

I had my first thyroid test in 1999, unfortunately it did not show I was hypothyroid. I tested in 2000, and it finally showed I was hypohyroid. Because of this I came to realize how the TSH can actually stop people from getting a diagnosis, s it did for me. TSH changes throughout the day, so depending on when you test it may be normal.

I started Levoxyl right away. It lowered my TSH, but did nothing for my symptoms. After 9 months I saw an endo and got Cytomel added. It helped with many symptoms. I stayed on this combo for about 2 years. I then decided I wanted to try Armour thyroid, so I started seeing a different doctor to get on it. Many doctors later, I now am on the dose where all symptoms but cold feet at night and ridged nails are present.

A big part of this condition is knowing your lab results and knowing where you feel best. Otherwise, if you leave it solely up to the doctor you could be undermedicated.

Some great thyroid sites I found along the way.

My mother has it She is on synthryoid and it works wonders for her. I dont think she had numbness but she had all of the above and her heart would race She still cant tolerate the cold very well but it is a bit better. But she still goes for testing once a year to make sure her levels are ok and her medication doesnt have to be increased. She stills struggles with weight issues but way better on medication. Hope all goes well and dont forget to take your medication sometimes she will forget to take it for a couple of days and she gets really tired and cranky

i'm hypothyroid, and i've experienced the same medical problems. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia not long after. your symptons are the same as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I had no problems with synthroid, would be something to talk to your doctor about.
