I learned today that I had a ringworm infection, but I don't think this has anything to do with that.

I think this is more of a chapped sphincti issue.

Does anybody know what to look for?

More common than you think!

It could be hemorrhoids.
Sit in a tub of warm salt water. Epsom salt, in water to waist.

Try not to "sit so much" in hard chairs, that pools blood in that area. Get a special "hole in the middle" pillow to relieve pressure.

If the anus is tight and it hurts to have BM.
Take a stool softener ( not a laxative) ask the local pharmacist, they will help you get it and other anal medicines to help with the pain.

Good luck. Ringworm is a nasty infection too. If you call the doctor he might just order stuff over the phone for you.

Try rubbing some A&D ointment on your spincter and keep it on there. If it's chapped this will take care of it, and if not, it won't hurt. If his doesn't help I'd seek med attention.

Use Vasoline to rub around (sorry to sound gross) and slightly inside. Do that before you go to bed and probably twice during the day. Within two or three days it should clear up.
