How do you think the immigration issue can be solved?

Gee...I don't know. Let's start by figuring out what the plan is and sticking to it. Our country is getting crippled by the amount of illegal immigrants draining our system.

The biggest problem with illegal immigration is that we send mixed messages to immigrants. We say "No, you have to come in legally with all your paperwork and documentation. BUT, IF YOU DO get here somehow without all that, we'll give you a job and welfare for all your kids and we aren't really going to do anything about it."

Companies should have to pay heavy fines for employing illegal immigrants. I know a lot of people say that "no American would take those jobs anyway", but I think people on welfare should have to. Or, offer them to the homeless!

Everyone should be held to the same standards. I'm a second generation American, my grandparents had to come here legally. So should everyone else! I know the wait is long and it can be costly, but that's what immigration is all about!

We shouldn't automatically give citizenship to children born here, their parents (or at least 1 of them) should be citizens in order for them to claim citizenship and all the benefit's thereof, otherwise they should have to apply at age 18. (I live in Southern California and there is a lot of "anchor babies" here.)
We also shouldn't give financial aid of any kind to illegal immigrants. No welfare, no health care, no nothing. If you don't pay into the system, you shouldn't be able to take.

1. no amnesty for illegal immigrants
2. Deport their butts
3. While at the same time tightening up border security(North and South).
4. Actually "enforce" the immigration laws already in place.
5. Go after employers who have hired them, arrest and convict them, seize and sell off all business assets and use the funds to combat illegal immigration and help secure our borders.
6. Go to a flat national tax rate and do away with the IRS.(GAO is still there)
7. Restructure pay scales for goverment contract employment (i.e prevailing wage). You the taxpayer fit this bill, remember that.
8. Offer better pay and benefits in the civilian sector.
These are just a couple of ideas though.
9. pass legislation so that small business can offer "AFFORDABLE" (and set cap limits on it, if you can make laws requiring ppl to have automobile insurance, you sure as hell can pass legislation setting cap levels on health care insurance)health care coverage to their employees(Considering the fact that 70% of the US economy is generated by small business.). That would be a good start anyway.

Treat illegals like the criminals they are instead of listening to all the sob stories the media hands us. They are breaking the law so send them back to their homes.
There are poor, underprivileged people everywhere in the world not just those that are able to sneak across the southern border.

If you are going to let everyone into the country that is poor - start with the poorest - give a legal open border policy to the citizens of Ethiopia. Let those that are willing come here , get an education, do the "jobs no one else will" and pay taxes.
They deserve a chance - Don't they or is it easier to just say you want people to have a better life as long as they are Hispanic?

it is so sad that Americans cant see that they should not blame immigrants because the Americans are the ones that are to lazy to work for less money and by the way immigrants and illegals aliens do not mean the same thing and most of them work hard for there money i am an American married to a Mexican and he is a hard worker we have 6 kids no food stamps or any other help i am so sick of the Americans putting the blame on immigrants when they are the blame

Just like Eisenhower did back in the 50's with Operation Wet- back .
It's in the history books and on the Internet , look it up . He didn't have a problem with it or doing it either

I agree with the above. We should stick to the bills that we already have as laws. Another thing, we shouldn't just attack the border control for what ever reason while letting the drug smuggler away. Also, did you know that the drug smuggler who was "shot" in the butt is now wanting to SUE the US Government for loss wages from smuggling drugs?!?!?
