I'm always been a worrier since I was a little kid & I will see something on tv or read about it [someone w. a brain tumor, for example] & absolutely freak out about it for several weeks or more. It will be the first thing I think upon waking up & anytime I feel happy & I think "wait.. you have a problem right now.. you can't be happy."
So right now my big fear is homosexuality. I like boys!, but this year [8th grade] there are no cute guys in my grade at all. [Can't wait til Highschool] So somehow between that & all the "pro-gay" crap in the media I have managed to terrify myself of turning out gay. Its like I'm scared I'm being subconciously brainwashed into thinking its ok even though it creeps me out. & if I even start to stop worrying for a day or so, I see something about gay people somewhere & start freaking again. It scares me that there are real ppl who can't help it & how awful it would be to be one of them. Can anyone help me feel better ? How can I stop worrying ??

I'm pretty sure I have OCD w. obsessing over things b.c I sometimes feel better by completing strange, random rituals to "block out" bad thoughts. Ugh. Help me!

I guarantee you aren't gay. Most gay people aren't afraid of realizing their sexual orientation.
BTW, people can't worry themselves into homosexuality... you really should read more...
If you are still worried that you might be a homosexual, that someday you might fall in love with another female... afraid of your true self, then there is a cure. I think they make medicine that cures homosexuality now... or was it shock therapy.... I also remember hearing a priest say on television that homosexuality is a bad habit like smoking... all you have to do is stop it... you should try that.
You could also try praying to your god... he/she might be able to bless you with heterosexuality... maybe?

I'm no expert, but since you mention OCD...there are experts for that and DO use them!
Dear--I am very happily who and what I am. I am a bi woman. The things I am not happy about in life have nothing to do about my orientation, or media "crap."
Why does gay frighten you so? What's so bad about it? It happens all the time, everywhere. If you're not gay then great for you! If you are then great for you too!
good luck on your journey...

HMMM well, I would suggest professional help in this arena. Thinking that approximately 20 to 30 percent of the global population has a "crappy" lifestyle is cause for some concern. I think you are a little too young to be worrying about your sexual preference. You have a long time to go. LIVE LIFE. Being either gay or straight is nothing to worry about.

I actually had the same problem a few years ago. I was afaid that I was a lesbian but Im not. The whole pt. is go to a psychologist fast! They'll talk with you and help you cope with things. I don't think like that anymore. It all just randomly went awayfast.

First of all, there is nothing with being gay if it were to turn out you were. Second, you should talk to a conseler either at school or otherwise and talk to them about this. They can help you to rationalize these thoughts so they won';t take over your life.

The first step in being happy is accepting yourself for who you are. Have you ever thought that you are exactly what you are supposed to be, and you have the capacity to accomplish peace and harmony in life exactly as you are? Don't focus on the bad. Find good things that you like about yourself.

You sound really young. Most people wonder about who they really are, especially when they are young.
