The connection between FAFSA and EFC is this: FAFSA is the form that you fill out to apply for financial aid. It stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. When you fill out your FAFSA, you enter information about your earnings, household size, etc. There is a federal calculation set up by the Department of Education (and Congress) that takes all of those numbers from your FAFSA and comes up with an EFC (Expected Family Contribution). Your EFC is the amount of money that the government expects you to pay towards your schooling. So you will qualify for Pell Grant (free federal money) and most any state grants based on Pell. How much aid you get depends on how much your college costs. You don't get as much at a school that costs $5,000 a year as you would at a school that costs $10,000.

Rest assured, with an EFC of $211, you'll be fine.

An EFC of 211 is a really good score. 0 is the best score in regards to Estimated Family Contribution. 211 is really great, too. It will mean definitely federal and state grants. The other stuff is a bit unknown though.
