The major concern is that the few degrees it will rise globally will cause the polar ice caps to melt, raising sea level significantly. When the sea levels rise, coastal area is pushed further back inland. You may not think it's a big deal if you live in the midwest, but in one survery, it was reported that between 65 to 78% of the US population lives within 100 miles of a coastal area and that is well within the range of what the rising waters will take out. Other problems include the extinction of all the different organisms that depend on the arctic and antarctic habitat for survival. Again, may not seem like a big deal to you, but many of the bacteria that live in these regions provide priceless enzymes and research into possible treatments for diseases. If they're gone, then so too might be the theoretical cure for cancer. The last thing I can think of is that the global climate will be thrown off balance because weather is soley dependent on moisture and temperature. More water in the ocean and higher temps means more evaporation.

Well, actually there WILL be a lot of floods in some places. And desertification in others (they'll turn into deserts). The weather and environment will change quite dramatically.

A few degrees difference doesn't bother humans, but a few degrees is the difference between ice and liquid water. It's also enough to add a lot of heat energy to the oceans, changing the weather dramatically.

Basically, global warming won't kill us all...as far as we know.

But it WILL make life very, very unpleasent. Especially if you live near the coast (your house will be under water).

yes we are going to get huge fires (forest fires)... we may not die of floods but the sea level would rise becoz the polar ice caps are slowly melting becoase of the event which we know as Global Warming and this may trigger a sudden climate change that would affect the way of life in some places... like some farming lands in asia might experience a long drought coz the rains are late. and since its a drought, heat waves may cause forest fires in some places in the americas.

it doesn't necessarily affect us directly, but it kills the environment. a few degrees change can kill many different types of animals, and it's melting the ice caps which in turn kills polar bears because the ice caps are where they live. Without them they're abandoned in the water with nowhere to go. Plus the ocean level is rising which could flood low lying coastal towns. Research it, there are a lot of harmful side effects of global warming.

Politicians are going to try to use it as an excuse to control every aspect of your life.
Whenever someone says, global warming, ask why the last Ice Age ended 15,000 years ago - and don't blame man.
Also beware of phrases like "consenus" - that's not evidence. Once the consenus was the world was flat, the earth was the center of the universe, conteniental drift was impossible, flying was considered impossible, - and the list goes on.
Insist that the theory be proved.

It will hurt us badly. It's not just that it will get a little warmer.

Coastal cities will flood, first in storms, then all the time. Changing temperature and rainfall patterns will severely damage agriculture. Rich countries will be able to cope, but it will cost them huge sums of money and lower the standard of living. In poor countries many people will die of starvation but not all of them.

It will be the biggest disaster in human history. Wouldn't it be better to take actions to reduce it?

There's a lot you don't know--here's an overview:
Global warming, if not checked, will result in the following:

>major flooding of coastal areas--causing literallly hundreds of billions, if not trillions of dollars in damages
>mor and deadlier storms--think of the 2005 hurricane season every year--for decades.
>masssive loss of species, and ecological disruption
>climate shifts tha tcan--and will--cause extended droughts in many regions of the world
>ongoing crop failures due to all of the above--with potential famines in many countries

If we do not begin to act now--we are facing all of that--and more --by mid-cenury.

So is there any good news in this bleak picture? Yes--the scenario I just ouutlined. That's the good news. Every other scenario is worse.

You mean aside from the fact that if the ice caps melt, Boston, New York City and most of the coastal areas of the planet will be underwater?

What about the fact that Texas will become an uninhabitable wasteland, an the new "Breadbasket" of the planet will be Canada?

My gosh, do not you note the outcome that international warming is having on our planet? for instance, hurricane Katrina: the chilly air mixed with the nice and cozy temperature waters of the sea, and that brought a pair of large hurricane. also, summers are turning out to be extemely warm, and many folk are demise of warm temperature exhaustion. wintry climate is placing out late and getting very chilly, also many human beings are demise of the chilly. that is destroying many flowers. The ice interior the North/South Pole and in different factors of the international are melting: that isn't any longer meant to soften for like 1000 years. Polar bears and different sea animals are drowning because the ice is melting straight away And that is predicted that through 2100, factors of the international may be underwater because the sea element is starting to be dramatically. that is our fault and by way of our lack of understanding, it truly is going on. Our destiny generations may go throughout the outcomes because human beings polluting our environments. we received't end international warming, yet we may be able to help decelerate the technique through recycling stuff and saving up means.

There are alot of reason to way because the heat kills people in more ways than one you should really read up on things like this and study the process of global warming and what it can cause.
