Has your child always performed horribly? If it's a new thing, talk to him/her and see what's going on. Sometimes anxiety or some other similar feelings can contribute to this stemming from friendships, teasing, any type of change with routine or home life. I've been teaching 1st grade for 8 years now and see phases like this all the time. If there isn't anything going on, seek extra help outside of school with a tutor or learning specialist. A learning specialist can also assess your child in finding ways to accommodate to his/her learning needs, which is very useful information for you and the teacher.

There can be a variety of reasons your son is not doing well. If you feel that he/she is not doing well due to a disability you can request a formal evaluation to be done by the school psychologist. They will run a series of tests to determine if your child has a learning disability. Once identify, your child will be qualified for special services that will help him/her become more productive. Remember, all you have to do is call the school guidance councelor or the office of special education.

What grade and age? Need more details. But work really close with your school...they are a big help. But you need to work with them and not against them, they are there to help even if you feel they may be insulting you or your child. My son went from D's and F's to A's and B's. The school can run tests free of charge and have other free programs they can tell you about. Ask, Ask, Ask.

Get off the computer and ask your child how you can help..... maybe he/she needs more attention from you and his father ...... I have two girls and sometimes I think the younger is smarter than the oldest .... but my oldest is special and is more talented in other areas ....... every child is not the same you just have to keep helping your kid as much as possible and think outside the box ....... it could be all that's wrong is your kid wants someone to talk to or he just can't keep focused for some reason ..... or it could even be the school itself ....... do some investigating and let your kid know that whatever the problem is you have time for him/her......

have you mentioned anything to the teacher at school or during the PT Conferences? You might want to confront them about possible tutors at the school if available or see if your child hasa Learning Disability, there are many things that need to be looked at, so I would without a doubt contact the teacher and see what they believe the problem is with their ability to catch on to what is going on at school.

The first step would be to take the child to a counseor to determine if it is a mental issue.

Seek professional advice on parenting tips. There has to be a set time to do homework every night. the parent has to check the homework as well. Dont do the homework for your kid, make him or her do it.

There should be a punishment if your child continuously forgets his/her homework. Have the teachers (of the classes that he is failing) keep you updated on his progress if not daily then weekly.

Be involved!!!!!!

The best and sounds like the only option. Get them a private tutor or someone who can kick there butts into gear.

I'm not being smart, but have you had your childs IQ tested? They may have a learning disorder.
