Oh boy, my favorite of all time is a Serta Perfect Sleeper Pillow-top...
It is so very comfortable...
I wish I had one now...
I made a bad mistake of buying a Sleep Number bed and now I am stuck with it...

I had some experience in mattresses. The brand doesn't matter too much. It all comes down to two things:

1) Support. How many spring coils? How durable are they? Any extra support at the edges? So on.

2) The top. Firm? Plush? Pillow-top? How thick the foams are? You can feel different firmness on top of the same support.

So go to the store and try them out, pick the best one you like that fits in your budget.

Definitely Serta. Serta has the selection and comfort designed for your needs. Not to mention, Serta has very affordable prices for their mattresses. I would suggest Pottery barn Kids for children mattress and Pottery Barn for adults. Check out the website for yourself.

I like the "pillow top" mattresses...they are firm enough to support your back, but the "pillow top" is soft enough that you don't feel like you are sleeping on a board...

Good luck!
