I am Beauty Therapist and have been having a Brazilian wax done since I was 15. It can be painful, but we pull the sections of wax off quickly and you should not be in any pain afterwards. You will be slightly bumpy for up to 24 hours and then your skin will be so smooth. Unlike shaving you will only have to wax once every 4-6 weeks and the hair will begin to grow more sparsely over time. To prevent any ingrown hairs make sure that after waxing you use a gentle facial exfoliant and exfoliate your pubic area twice a week and always moisturise the skin afterwards.
I hope this information helps and good luck if you decide to have it waxed.

Waxing would probably be better and less bumps, either way, you could try hydrocortisone creme 2-3x a day for a few days after either waxing or shaving to help reduce the bumps.
Another option is laser, but it is expensive, and slightly painful, (though less than waxing!), and permanent. I do the bikini area, but not completely (as I don't want to regret that one day!), I never get bumps from the laser. But make sure it's a real laser, and not IPL, or it won't be permanent. I'm in the field, so I know what really works.

I've shaved the bikini area and also had a bikini wax. I'd go with the waxing....you don't have to do maintenance every two days....with waxing, you can go 2-4 weeks.
the irritation bumps can be itchy and no pun intended, but irritating....the bumps are also noticeable

Shaving with the Seiko Cleancut Shaver doesn't cause red bumps and irritation. I'm not sure why so many people have problems with shaving down there. They must not be using one of those. Hydrocortisone cream is one of the cheapest products you can buy to shave it all off. You can get that at any store. There are many other products that prevent problems with shaving the bikini area.

shaving all the time down there is a b*#$h. But waxing down there hurts like nothing else!!! They say the more you wax the less grows back but i just couldnt bring myself to do it again. When it comes to shaving though use bikini zone if you get those bumps.

I always wax mine.It hurts for 10 min.but I have 4 weeks of nice smooth ,clean skin.No bumps,no cuts,no mess! I take 2 Advil's before and I'm good.I'm doing it for 10 years,every month and very happy with it,but of course I'm doing it myself,so I don't pay for it!

I would definitely shave! I think one of the best razers to use is the intuition because it has a soft soap around the razer! Hopefully that helps you a little bit! :)
