There is a little metal bar you can buy somewhere that you rub in your hands under water. I used to work at A&W, it worked pretty good. The only problem is, I'm not sure what its call or where to buy it. I think people use something similar to this to get rid of the smell of fish after gutting/cleaning them.
Also, there is the ooption of wearing gloves while peeling/cutting/slicing/dicing onions. Spanish onions are the worst! Goodluck Smelly Hands! :P

I buy those bags of really thin and inexpensive throw away gloves. They look like medical latex gloves. They have a very close fit so onions are easy to chop. When you remove the gloves, because they fit so tightly, you just grab at the wrist and pull them off- they end up inside out, so you never get the onion smell on you period. Before I discovered those, I kept tomato juice on hand. Rubbing a small amount of it in your hands and rinsing them removes the worst of it. Gloves are by far better. You can get these in the cleaning isle at Wal Mart or even in the paint department or a dollar store.

Lemons, or they actually make a stone to rub on your hands under running water,I know it sounds weird, but it is specifically for the "onion" smell. Some how it works! Good Luck to you.

Use vinegar to get rid of onion smell on your hands. Other option is to use fresh lemon juice with baking soda on your hands.

washing your hands with cold water and either lemon juice or coffee grinds.
Using hot water will open up the pores and the smell will go deeper than the surface of your skin.
Coffee grinds work better than lemon, however your hands will smell like coffee for a bit.

Wipe your hands on stainless steel (such as a stainless steel sink), then wash them with soapy water! Simple, easy, and cheap! This works very well, I use this method myself.

When you get home, wash your hands with baking soda.

Try using tomatoe sauce. I don't know where I got this from but it sounds right. I think I saw it on the cooking network.
