If you work in certain states and draw a paycheck from a company in that state then they will probably tax your paycheck. In my state, Maine, we have workers from New Hampshire work at the shipyard that is just on the inside of Maine's border and they require them to pay Maine state tax, New Hampshire has no state tax. If a mainer works in New Hampshire , Maine still requires a state tax on the paycheck. Depends on how long you are in the state and what they consider a resident to be.

If your home state has no income tax, you can't file a return there. You will have to file a non-resident return in the state where you work and pay any tax due.
