im 26 and my gf just left me for the second time in our 8 year relationship to be alone and maybe travel. she reckons she is not ready to give me what i want and settle down. She doesnt want anyone else and i believe that. I am moving on and doing my own thing now but because of our great history and the fun we had i maybe hold a glympse of hope that she may want me back. When we split i told her not to contact me or call etc, we have a house and bank accounts together so there is some sorting out to do but i dont like the way i left things. A part of me wants to write a letter and clear up the no contact thing incase she decides to work on things again. The catch is i feel as though i took control of the situation by saying no contact and i dont want her to think i am waiting around just waiting for her, i want her to know my intentions are to move on. So should i just leave things and trust that if she wants to sought things out she will call me or should i write a patch up letter?

You have a long history with her, don't play games. If you want to write her and you don't like the way you left things then thats what you need to do. Write her. Or call her and tell her exactly how you feel. Letters are usually easier, for me atleast. You say you felt like you took "control" of the situation when you told her not to contact you. So you feel like you will give up that control if you contact her? It's not about control. It's about being honest to her, and to yourself. If you feel you need to fix things you should do just that. I've found that even if the outcome of the situation is not what I wanted it to be it was always better to let the other person know exactly how I felt. You'll regret it if you don't.

I dont think you want to hear this...but let her go. She is clearly not ready for things to get serious. Take care of whatever issues still bind the two of you together. Let her go "find herself" or whatever it is she is looking for...and move on. Enjoy what life has ahead for you. If it is meant to be, she will be back in your life. If not, there is someone out there who will be perfect for you. You have much to offer someone, and it will be her loss if she realizes that the day after you find "the one". Its difficult when you have so much time and history invested in one person, but there is happiness out there for you. You just have to go find it. Good Luck
