I figured it out in my late twenties...what are you waiting for? Re-try all the foods you decided you don't like when you were 5, then maybe you can wear the big boy pants.

You're taste buds don't change, your brain does. As a kid I would eat anything from the ocean, now I like a lot of it as long as it's not too fishy. Even tried an anchove, they're kind of nasty, but I tried it and my big boy pants fit like a glove.

Very few people enjoy liver, so that's a crappy argument.

Nope, it's bad, very bad, if it's so bad it's crappy. Here's why. 10% of kids put tomatoes on their burgers. 55% of adults put tomatoes on theirs. What percent of kids eat liver (incredible low percent) what percent of adults eat liver (very low percent)? See the difference??

In lieu of the Big Boy Pants, I'll take the Big Girl Skirt.
I was a very picky eater as a child. Mom cooked everyday and always kept fresh fruits and veggies in the house for snacks. It was rare that we had chips, pizza, burgers, cold cereal, etc.
I wouldn't eat my food if it touched. And you know how peas roll into the mashed potatoes!
Now, pile it up and I eat it. ESPECIALLY vegetables!
Oh, to answer your question, I love GOOD tomatoes. If I have a burger, it's either from In n Out or La Petit Jardin and their tomatoes are very fresh.

When I was five, my mom made me eat fried chicken liver. I hurked liver hunks all the way down the hall to the bathroom. Last time she ever made that mistake.
Fast forward to forty five years later. I decided that since my tastes had changed in other areas, maybe they'd also changed about liver. I took a helping of something called "Sweet and Sour Liver" at Hometown Buffet, and proceeded to try it. And you know what. . .
. . .it's STILL liver, it's STILL awful, and I STILL hate it!
I figure that little gustatory experiment ought to hold me for about the next forty-five years. By that time, maybe I'll be too senile to give a rap whether I'm eating liver or shoe leather.
So thanks all the same, but I'll pass on the big boy drawers if it means eating that vile stuff!
Edit:
It's a perfectly good analogy. . .it just isn't what you wanted to hear, that's all.

I eat tomatoes, but if you don't like something you just don't like it. I am a firm believer in trying everything at least once. I will admit, that my taste buds are different now, then when I was younger, and I have tried some things that I did not like before. Guess what? I still don't like them!

If I try tomatoes again, and I still don't like them, does that mean I get to be a kid forever?
BTW, I really don't want to wear big boy pants. I'm a girl.

Honey, I try to eat tomatoes every summer, when they are growing so red and warm in my garden. Every morning when I walk by them and the dew is heavy, and the scent is oh so sweet, I try to eat tomatoes. Every darn time someone goes to my garden and plucks a fresh, juicy tomato from the vine and slices it with peppers and lettuce on a slice of bread and bites into it and the pleasure lights up his face, I try again to eat a tomato. Fact of the matter is - not only do I not like the taste, I can stand the feeling of tomato in my mouth. But I do try. Every summer...

I have never liked tomatoes, and they always look so good on burgers and sandwiches, but, then I bite into one and yuck. I love spaghetti sauce though, go figure.
