I think you're picking up on the TONAL nature of the Chinese language. As a tonal language, a word can have different meanings depending on the tone with which it's spoken. This is not a feature of Japanese or Korean, and for me, really helps you to distinguish between Chinese & some other Asian languages.

Why do people always rip on the Chinese and the way they speak? You do realize they're speaking a language about 10 times as difficult as yours, right? And so what if it's their native language? I'd be willing to bet it's a lot easier to find a Chinese person that speaks English than a native English speaker who can speak Chinese.

no i do not. you just dont really know how to speak chinese, i guess. i'm chinese myself, and i'm completely comfortable while speaking and listening to chinese. it sounds normal to me. you are just unfamiliar to chinese so you are thinking that way. you'll get used to it.
plus chinese is about ten times harder than english, you know. and what you said is definitely an insult to genuine chinese people (as in people who grew up in china speaking chinese. not me, since i grew up in america but chinese is actually my native language).

No, in no way. Chinese people talk. Cats can't talk. If you are hearing your cat talk, I suggest you not talk back to it but get counseling.
