What I mean by this is like how portable phones have a base and if you cant find the phone you press a button and it beeps so you can find the phone. Well why dont we make bases for remote controls. Have a battery that can lasts for weeks if you dont use them that much then to recharge them just put the remote back in the base. Whenever you lose your remote you can just press the base charger and listen for the beep. It will make life so much easier. And no I cant just get off my but and change the channel cause if I want to watch a movie or play games then I need the remote to change the setting on the tv.

There are remotes like that. A few TVs (from Philips I think) have a "locate remote" button on the TV.
The main problem is POWER (and cost). The remote needs to be constantly on, so it can receive an RF signal at any time.
It needs to have both an RF receiver and an IR transmitter (extra cost).
You need to change the batteries very often or you need a power charger and rechargable batteries.

Here is a patent

TV companies don't want to spend more than a few dollars on their remotes.
However, you can by "RF locators" which you stick on your keys, your remote, etc (Check "Sharper Image" ) . For about $50 you get 4 locators and a base. Again the problem is the batteries. You get sick of replacing them and eventually you give up.

I think it would be helpful to just have a place you put the remote all the time, and tell others to do the same, or there will be consequences, like walking on coals.
This works for me.

I totally agree and I think it would be nice to have the locater as an additional button on the front of the television.

I was just saying this the other day but my idea had a button on the TV, DVD, or cable box (whatever) that would page the remote.

you are brilliant!

genius. patent the idea and then go to a tv company to market the Idea. I think it's great. I'd buy the remote for my tv if you made it.
