We just got back from Mexico. Their Coca Cola has real sugar. American Cokes have high fructose Corn syrup which I understand to be a cheaper substitute.

I think you just answered your own question. Cane sugar tastes better than corn syrup. Cane is grown in Mexico, so it's cheap for local bottlers. Same thing in China -- better Coke.

Every place that national companies cater to has a different recipe for that product depending on venue and customers' liking. More sugar, less sugar, more water, different flavoring or different sweetener. Coke probably uses a different formula in Mexico.

Cokes do taste different when you're in another country. A friend told me the same thing. Coke in the US is different from Coke in the Philippines. Same thing when he went to another country.
The kind of sugar they use (from where they get it) makes the taste differ from one country to another.
Makes one wonder, what is the real Coke?

I've had the Mexican Cokes (they sell them in Gainesville, GA) and they really do taste better. I don't know why though.

Yeah. Sugar tastes way better that HFCS-chemical crap.
