Source: I heard that saying back in 1969 and I'm still waiting for the communist to walk down my street and kill me. Now in the year 2007 I hear "We have to fight them in Iraq so we don't have to fight them here". Why is that a false saying?

Typical fearmongering propaganda.
What terrorist group has the means to actually "fight" America on its own soil? None of them.
If America took 1/5 of the money it is spending on the Iraq fiasco and spent it on securing our nation's infrastructure and ports of entry, then we would be very secure against terrorist attacks.
Let's be honest, even with the utmost protection conceivable there may very well be another successful terrorist attack at some point in the future. But that risk would exist whether we invaded Iraq or not.
All we've done by invading Iraq is create an incubator for more terrorists. They're learning their trade over there, on our tab.

Well, I think you answered your own question. Just because we did'nt get into a shooting war with the communist bloc, does'nt mean we did'nt battle them on foreign shores. It just means it was a let's say........ COLD war..... The saying's not false, just only provable by NOT fighting our enemies over "there". If we don't, and they end up duck marching through your home, then we'll know it was'nt false. Personally, I don't want to take that chance! lol.

There you go recycle the same arguements as long as they can. I sleep on a bed made in Vietnam (they didnt tell me thats where it was coming from when I ordered it). Honestly it seems for all intents and purposes that we are best buddies with the commies. Its amazing that calling someone a commie is still an insult since we get most of what we have from china. The reason you haven't seen the commies is because we did fight them over there and we defeated them over there. We stalemated them in Korea, Europe, and Vietnam long enough for their economy collapse. Your example actually proves the statement true.

They do not have the capability to fight over here period. Besides that, the borders should be secure to keep them from even getting in. We could abandon Iraq right now and not worry about any Iraqis "following the troops home". It is just obvious nonsense to scare the gullible simpletons.

Declared war against the United States.
Attacked us twice on our own soil.
Threatened to "topple our government."
Delight in slaughtering innocent people.
Are hell bent on killing all infidels.
Will convert us to Islam by force, if necessary.
Have committed acts of war against America.

It is a fear mongering slogan, but it is also ironically true. If you "keep them occupied" elsewhere, they won't bother you at home.
Another way to look at it, stop them before they reach your borders and most of the shed blood won't be yours.
