In Season 1 Episode 19 of the Rifleman Feb 3, 1959 titled "Shivaree" A wagon train master forces a young couple to marry after they hide the fact that one is a girl, and Lucas takes them in to help them; but trouble soon arises when a drunken crowd calls for a Shivaree. I have never heard of real people doing it, though.
