For example, if your g/f says something that alludes she's going to break up with you (like 'I need to talk to you') and YOU yourself want to break up but didn't want to do it first, how would you react to her saying that she needs to talk to you?

In other words: If your girlfriend said those words and you were in your mind hoping for a break-up, what would you say (assuming of course, after 'talk about what?')

I'd agree that we need to talk and hear her out. If I'm lucky and she does want to break-up all I have to do is agree and we go our separate ways. If that's not what she wants to talk about then I have an opportunity to take care of business then and there.

tough 1 I guess it would be based on what lead to this to happen the mind set and all. I would probably let her so she can save face with her friend that she decided to tell before me. I would however hope we could still talk civil and even be friend each other.

Pre-emptive break up. If I was sure she was going to do it then I'd get it in first. Probably. Nothing good ever comes from the "we need to talk" line.

I would let her get it out, and make sure that is what she was going to say. With my luck, I would tell her I wanted to break up with her too, and she would say, I didn't want to break up with you, I wanted to tell you I won the lotto last night.
