5:15 is about right where you should be. To do this you should be doing the workouts your coach says. There should be 400 intervals on the track at least once a week, to get your speed up. The mile is now become the threshold between distance and sprints, Many of the top miles in the nation can run the same 800 splits in the mile as they do 800 alone, and those are high school kids as well. While running the mile know someone who runs qabout the same time as you want to and get behind them for the first few laps, leading wastes 8%more energy than foolowing. Go out at about 2:40 for your first 800 and that third lap pick it up, thats the hardest and even though you feel like your going faster you wont be. Then go all out the last lap, i mean come on its only 1 lap left. At the end you should be too tired to talk. Also the time will be adjusted because of prior events in the meet. I always had to do the 4X8 and open 4 before the mile so my times were never as fast as they could of been. And be mentally tough, the mile ran properly brings a lot of pain to the body, dont focus on that, focus on the race and youll do fine. Good luck!!

Tbh I used to run 5ks yet i ended and sat round all summer time so i change into out of type and my mile time interior the starting up of the semester change into 11:40 5 this is truly undesirable thinking my quickest mile is 8:36 outdoors and seven:40 seven on a treadmill. in school we ran a mile commonly used and that i chosen the operating application. the first purpose change into 2:40 5 per lap this is an 11 minute mile. second purpose change into 2:30 per lap it really is a 10 minute mile. My frequent mile time i'm getting commonly used now on the end of the semester is like 9:30 yet i have finished it about 30 seconds faster. It basically relies upon on the day. i understand i might want to do more effective powerful I basically don't experience like attempting all that troublesome. you basically ought to condition then you definately will be making sturdy time interior the subsequent few weeks.

Assuming you aren't one of those guys who is a lot better at XC then track (and there are some), i'd say you should be pushing low 5's. Aim for 5:15 in the first meet and work your way down. A 5:15 is roughly 79 sec. laps. A five minute mile is 75 sec. laps. Keep that in mind as a goal.
Good luck

well if u want to run 1 mile fast you would have to do as much as you can to decrease the air resistance, wear smooth clothing or use gel to put your hair back and smooth. Even though it wont make you that fast it still counts. when you run you have to do wide steps not short ones because they will waste your energy. Don't go on a diet but try to put your weight as far down so it can help you. Drink lots of water, and do stretches. Practise a lot and try doing high knees and bum kicks. you should also try triathalons, they REALLY help. Try to go healthy for the week of the track meet so you can be more awake, energetic and it will help you very much.
I don't know much more but for a 10 year old thats a lot and im 10. Good luck and I hope I helped you!

So I am guessing you do a 5k in like 18 mins?? If so you should have no problem being in your low 5's or probably even late 4's. Good luck on your track meet

Ideal time for you would be 3:40. Try to pace it at first, and then slowly accelerate at the end.

Set your goal on cracking the 4 minute mile! Now that would be something to tell your grandkids about.
